How-to Guides

Where you'll work

Audit & Assurance graduates

The majority of our graduates are placed within the Audit and Assurance team. Your time in Audit and Assurance is mainly spent completing an on-site statutory audit as part of a designated team as well as office based work completing tasks such as researching clients and other ad hoc projects. The on-site audit work involves ensuring that the financial statements show a ‘true and fair’ representation of the company’s position and results for the year and has met all regulatory guidelines and financial accounting standards. It’s a great basis for your career in business and gives you a thorough understanding of how different businesses operate. In audit and assurance every assignment brings new challenges and so you’ll continually be developing your skills and knowledge in different areas.

Business Tax graduates

We offer graduate positions within our Business Tax team which also enable you to work towards your ACA qualification. Not only will you be trained as a tax adviser you will also spend time within the audit department, going out to clients to gain first hand experience of auditing in support of your professional qualification.

Your work will involve advising our clients on tax regulations and the impact on their business. Initially you will typically be providing figures for statutory accounts and preparing corporate tax returns. As you progress you will advise clients on the most tax efficient strategy to fulfil their long term goals as well as ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation.

Recovery & Insolvency graduates

Graduate opportunities within our Recovery and Insolvency team require you to be objective, realistic and have the ability to ‘think on your feet’. You will be dealing with companies in financial or operational difficulty and will involve a range of challenging engagements across the spectrum of business turnaround and formal insolvency procedures.

Most of your work is office-based, but quite frequently engagements will require you to travel conducting business out on site. Every case is different so if you like the idea of facing new challenges, this type of work may suit you.
