Cooper Parry Support Environment Club
Added : 9th October 2008
Regional business advisers Cooper Parry are supporting the Resource Navigator club, set up in 2006 to assist SMEs with waste reduction, energy efficiency and water minimisation, by providing their Derby offices as a venue for their discussions.
Since March 2006, the RNC programme has supported twenty-seven Derbyshire SMEs and, in year two alone, worked towards £233,000 of potential savings, equivalent to 471 tonnes of waste being diverted from landfill and 687 tonnes of CO2 diverted from the atmosphere.
Some of the organisations already seeing benefits from the club are Ilkeston based Dremm Packaging who were able to reduce both the volume and cost of waste by 75% and achieved £23,000 annual savings through their electricity purchase; Surepharm Services based in Bretby who demonstrated a 50% reduction in their quantity and cost of waste sent to landfill; Central Joinery based in Swadlincote, who implemented £10,000 annual savings through better waste management and Greenbank based in Swadlincote, who implemented the recycling of 100 tonnes of inert waste annually, increasing their recycling rate from 56% to 80% and saving up to £5,000 annually.
Julien Bastid of the Resource Navigator Club said, "There are many reasons for a company to consider resource efficiency and waste reduction. There are huge cost savings to be made which lead to higher profitability, lower environmental impact, together with an improved public image which can help secure existing customers and attract new ones."
Rebecca Aldridge of Cooper Parry said, "The work of the Resource Navigator Club is gaining momentum all the time. We are pleased to be able to offer our facilities and support some of the most environmentally forward thinking businesses in our region."
