The Cooper Parry Corporate Challenge

Cooper Parry Corporate Challenge

Race report 13th September 2009

Thirty-six teams took part in this year’s corporate relay event organised by business advisers, Cooper Parry and raised nearly £30,000.

The overall winner of the 2009 event was East Midlands Development Agency (emda).  Their team won the race in a time of 1:27:53.   In second place was MMD Mining Developments Ltd with a time of 1:28:41 and in third place, Perkins Restaurant, in a time of 1:31:57.

Now in its seventh year, the Cooper Parry Corporate Challenge is a firm fixture in the Nottingham business calendar. In addition to raising much needed funds for charity, the Corporate Challenge gets local businesses to take their health and fitness as seriously as their careers.

The Cooper Parry Corporate challenge has raised nearly £200,000 over 7 years for the marathon charities and is the biggest single fundraiser of the marathon event.

Why do businesses get involved?

Teamwork has always been key to the success of Perkins & The Carriage Hall and members of their relay squad made this pay dividends when they managed third place in this year's Cooper Parry Corporate Challenge on 13 September 2009. (See picture right.)

Their team consisted of Jonathan and David Perkins, the co-directors of the award-winning Plumtree restaurant and its stylish new events space, David Holmes, Matt Scott-Simpson and Paul Tansley.

Meanwhile, SENAD,
the special education and care provider followed the theme of ‘Staying Healthy’, in this year’s Corporate Challenge.

Finance Director, Richard Atkinson says,"Raising funds for a good cause is the main reason for getting involved, but the by-product of getting fit has certainly benefitted some of the SENAD team! "

The SENAD Group raised a magnificent £2500 for charity and were recognised on the day for their achievements. (See photo top left)
