Sunspel Deal All Sewn Up
Cooper Parry Corporate Finance has completed the sale of Sunspel Menswear Limited to a new management team led by Nicholas Brooke and Dominic Hazelhurst. Sunspel is a well established traditional manufacturer of high quality men’s underwear. The brand, which is manufactured in Long Eaton, carries the ‘Made in England’ label and is sold in the UK from prestigious outlets such as Harrods and Selfridges. The Sunspel range has been expanded to include outerwear in response to strong export demand. The company has been owned by the Hill family since its inception in 1936.
The transaction was led by Sally Williams of Cooper Parry Corporate Finance, who commented “Our clients have owned the business for 69 years and are confident they are handing over Sunspel to new owners who will develop the brand further and provide fresh impetus.”
Legal advice to the vendors was provided by Mark Hughes of Midlands law firm Browne Jacobson. He commented “Having worked with Sunspel for some time now, we are delighted to have been part of this deal. It represents a great opportunity for a local business to move forward and we look forward to hearing about their continued success.”
Evelyn Heron from Eversheds law firm in Nottingham advised the new management team on the transaction. She said, “We are delighted to see the smooth completion of this deal. The new management team has exciting plans in place to grow the business and build on the achievements of the Hill family.”
