The successful cycling team have raised £3000 for The Stroke Association

Colleagues at regional business advisers Cooper Parry have cycled the length of the Liverpool to Leeds canal in a time of 16.5 hours and raised over £3,000 for The Stroke Association charity.

The team members battling against the clock in relentless rain were Phil Wood, Rob Burden and Richard Gawthorpe.  The closest previous recorded attempt was 17.5 hours.

Phil Wood said, "Eighty per cent of the ride was on rough rutted track which proved tricky to negotiate. We had punctures, break failure and bike falls. We had to keep our concentration, but we kept determined.  It was hard but a lot of fun."

Richard Gawthorpe said, "I suggested the team take on the challenge to raise funds for The Stroke Association, our firm’s nominated charity of the year.  It’s been a great team achievement and I’m looking forward to our next challenge."

Philip Rogers, Business Tax partner at the firm added, "This challenge is one of a number of events Cooper Parry will organise over the next six months to try and raise as much funding as possible for The Stroke Association."
