Employment Legislation Seminar

This informative seminar will focus on the following topics:

  • Overview of the changes to employment legislation in April and October 2008 and a look at what is coming up in the next six months.
  • Repeal of the Statutory Dispute Resolution Regulations – the existing regulations concerning disciplinary, dismissal and grievance are changing in April 2009.  We will update you on what the changes look like and the impact of this on your business.
  • Lay-offs, short-time working and redundancies – the recent credit crunch and the threat of redundancy means that a large number of organisations are looking to save money and reduce headcount.  We will talk you through the legal implications of implementing lay-offs, short-time working and redundancies in your workforce. 
  • Corporate Manslaughter Act – we will focus on your responsibilities in relation to dealing with employees who have to drive as part of their job, either in their own vehicle or a company vehicle.
  • Maternity pay and leave – maternity regulations have changed significantly over the past two years with an increasing burden being placed on the employer.  We will take the opportunity to provide you with a practical example of how to manage a maternity situation in your business, including how to calculate key dates and entitlements, what communication should take place with the pregnant employee and crucial ‘do's and don’ts’ before, during and after maternity leave.
  • Personal allowances - an update on the current proposals due for implementation in 2012.  Under the personal accounts regime, employers will have a duty to automatically enrol their employees into a good quality workplace pension scheme and will also have to provide a minimum contribution.
