Joint Administrators Tyrone Courtman and Nick Edwards of Leicester Business Advisers Cooper Parry, were appointed to manage the affairs of Elsome Structures Limited and Elsome Engineering Limited on 3 February 2009.
The Administrators’ team are currently assessing ongoing work and future orders to determine the viability of trading in Administration. No redundancies have yet been made, although an announcement is scheduled to be made tomorrow to staff following conclusion of the current review. The Administrators are exploring the opportunity to sell the businesses, which for Elsome Structures consists of steel structural design to installation, and for Elsome Engineering involves the maintenance and installation of production lines for major food manufacturers. The appointment followed a brief review of the companies’ financial position, which Cooper Parry had been instructed to carry out by the directors. The companies have suffered from a significant downturn in orders towards the end of 2008, which has impacted on cash flow in January, resulting in an inability to meet wage payments at the end of last week.
The original business was started by Ray Elsome over 30 years ago and has developed into the combined businesses which have 67 employees and annual turnover in excess of £6m. The managing director Tim Elsome, on behalf of the senior management team, expressed regret at having to make such a decision, however, conceded that there were no other viable options for the companies to take in the current circumstances.
