Strategy

“What business strategy is all about; what distinguishes it from all other kinds of business planning - is, in a word, competitive advantage.  Without competitors there would be no need for strategy, for the sole purpose of strategic planning is to enable the company to gain, as effectively as possible, a sustainable edge over its competitors”

Kenichi Ohmae

Now you’ve established a memorable and motivational vision, it’s time to devise a strategy to take you from where you are now to where you would like to be. This is simply a plan of action over a set period of time, usually three to five years – in other words a “road map” that sets out the direction for your business.

It is possible to have a strategy without a vision, but how do you know where you’re heading?

Strategic plans shouldn’t be cast in stone as it may be necessary to adjust your plan to reflect changes in markets, competitors, or simply economic conditions. What shouldn’t change is your overall direction.

You will find that decision making becomes easier. Simple questions like “Does it accord with the strategy” and “Does it help us achieve our vision” often stop you becoming distracted from pursuing those opportunities that so frequently arise.

Our team have worked with many businesses and we’ve helped them build a strategic plan and set up mechanisms to monitor and evaluate delivery against plan.
