Leadership is one of the most researched yet least understood aspects of human behaviour. One of the recurrent themes is that leadership happens at a variety of levels. Team leadership pulls together a group of people to work on a specific task in a prescribed time-frame to produce a specific outcome. Operational leaders create the right environment for the team leadership activities to be carried out effectively; shaping the culture of the organisation and determining where management energy is deployed.
Strategic leadership is about creating a strategy and planning how to implement it; it is also about issues such as morale, sustainability, administrative expertise, forming and maintaining effective relationships and creating trust. This session focuses on building upon and developing strategic leadership ability.

Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the seven core competencies of leadership; examine their current skill level and pinpoint specific areas in their leadership development upon which to focus
- Explain the fundamentals of creating a compelling vision and assess how effective they are at visioning and setting strategic goals
- State why the process of winning hearts and minds is important; access how effective they are in doing this and establish how they will become more effective in the future
- Understand the fundamentals of visibility and being a role model and assess how they can build upon current effectiveness
