WE’RE THE 12TH BEST COMPANY TO WORK FOR IN THE UK

Fantastic news – we recently came 12th in The Sunday Times’ Best Companies to Work For list. In two years, we’ve climbed up the table from 91st in 2016 to 32nd in 2017, and then to 12th this year. We are now the highest placed accountancy firm in the Best 100.

Winning this award is obviously a big deal for us. It’s clear that putting our people and culture first is really paying off. And whilst it’s important to us, it’s also one of the reasons why our clients receive the best service around and why they continue to choose PKF Cooper Parry.

How does our culture help our clients?

For any entrepreneur, mesmerising people with a fantastic customer experience, or, “CX”, is high on the priority list. One of the ways we create the best client experience in the market is by having engaged, happy people working here.

Also, who wouldn’t want to join one of the best companies to work for in the UK? Results like this help us to attract the best talent around. It means we have the right expertise when we need it, and the right expertise to work with our superstar clients.

Why we came 12th

The results were calculated based on the Best Companies Index, which took scores from a questionnaire completed by our people. This was then factored against 8 factors of workplace engagement. Our survey results highlighted some statistics we’re particularly proud of:

93% of our people think working here is good for their personal growth – We’re building a strengths-based organisation making sure that everyone plays to their strengths. So, to us, development isn’t just about promotion – we recognise that everyone develops differently and has different goals. We reward and recognise everyone regardless of their aspirations, and we provide opportunities to make that happen. We don’t believe in failure, only opportunities to grow, learn and progress.

98% think we encourage charitable activities – We set ourselves the goal of giving 365 days of our time last to charity year and, during our Community Week, we spent seven days helping 18 local causes.

95% of people feel proud to work here – We’re committed to the mantra: ‘Disrupt. Lead. Make Life Count’. We ask questions like: How can we develop even better relationships? How can we contribute even more to the community? Behind it all is our passion to make life count for our people and for our clients.

Winning ways

This is just one of a few awards we’ve recently received. On the Best Companies night, we also picked up a special trophy for our commitment to employee wellbeing. This is because our people have access to everything from career to life coaching and from relationship to health and fitness advice. This is in addition to the huge variety of fitness, mindfulness and yoga classes we offer.

But we know that wellbeing is about much more than a healthy lifestyle, it’s about achieving a real work-life balance and recognising the huge part that our families and the community play in helping us to take care of ourselves. This means we involve them at every opportunity, and they’re incorporated into ‘CP Heartbeat’ – our new People Experience Programme.

The day after our Best Companies result, our Service Charge team also won Property Week’s Best Place to Work in Property 2018 award. And, our Cooper Parry Wealth team were named as the No. 1 Best Financial Advisers to Work For in 2018 at the Professional Adviser Awards. It’s fair to say our workplace culture is getting us noticed.

So, of course we’re going to celebrate these recent successes. But we do this knowing that whilst it’s our people enjoying the benefits of working here, it’s our clients who reap the rewards.
