What do you do?

I build relationships with businesses through our audit and tax services. Working alongside our Partners, I talk with and visit potential clients. Our aim is always to truly understand the business and personalities we’re talking with and their aims, challenges and what’s most important to them in an advisor. Once we understand who we’re talking with, we know where we can add value to their business and can put forward a proposal reflecting this.

I’m the main point of contact through a sales process and do the majority of organising and moving the process forward. Having me doing this role allows our Partners to get on with what they do best – looking after clients.

Why do you do it?

I’ve known a few of the Cooper Parry team through a mutual love of mountain climbing and while I never aimed to work for an accountant, the more I heard about CP, the more I liked what I heard. I’d been in sales / account management roles my whole life and so when one of the team told me there was a role that fitted my skills and I should send in a CV, I had to go for it.

I’ll be grateful to that person for giving me a nudge for the rest of my life! Working at CP has changed my outlook on work. I no longer get the ‘Monday morning blues’ and going to work is something I look forward to. The freedom and trust you’re given at CP to get on with things how you see fit, to try new ways and not fear failure and to work for a business where you feel you can make a real difference is truly empowering.

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

We have a total focus on being the number one adviser to £10m-£200m turnover businesses in the Midlands. I was part of the team that set a new record this year for the amount of these type of businesses that joined CP. We already looked after more than twice the amount of this kind of business in the Midlands than any other adviser and after this year, the gap between us and our competitors widened considerably.

Our knowledge of this type of business just gets stronger and stronger and the advice we’re giving and opportunities we’re spotting is getting better and better – I love hearing from new clients about how much they enjoy working with us.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

Drinking a dry martini in the Savoy’s American Bar.
