What do you do?
I work in Pensions Audit. This means I test the numbers in the financial statements to check that they are not misstated. I communicate with administrators, actuaries and trustees regularly to keep them up to date on the audit.
I audit the financial statements of our pension scheme clients of varying size and complexities. Quite simply, this mean that I check whether balances stated within the financial statements are correct. I communicate with a wide variety of people on a day-to-day basis, these include (but are not limited to) Those Charged With Governance, Actuaries, Investment managers and Administrators. I predominantly work on pure audit clients.
Why do you do it?
I have such a passion for pension scheme audits (nearly been a decade in Pensions). I really enjoy the time talking to Management and Administrators and other people involved in pension schemes.
What kind of projects have you been involved in?
I have worked on several different pension schemes which have been varying from multi-employer to schemes with complex/ hard to value investments, schemes in PPF assessment period etc. I enjoy the variety of Audits, particularly having the responsibility to complete the audit work from planning to completion in a timely manner.
