WHAT DO YOU DO?

I’m the Product and Risk Director at URM Consulting Services, Cooper Parry’s cyber and information security business. My role covers client work, internal projects, and providing technical input to the company’s strategy. 

On the client side, I help organisations understand and manage their cyber and information security risks. This includes supporting both the Cyber and GRC teams, conducting penetration tests, and guiding clients through compliance with key standards like PCI DSS. 

Internally, I’ve led the development of Abriska, our risk management software. Working with our developers, we have expanded its features to help businesses manage risks more effectively and consistently, covering areas like information security, business continuity, and supplier risk, while also improving our consultancy delivery and internal systems. 

WHY DO YOU DO IT?

I’ve always enjoyed solving problems. While I began my career as a software developer, I found myself wanting more direct involvement with people, both through working with clients and by developing and supporting teams at URM to improve internal systems. 

I particularly enjoy collaborating with clients and colleagues to understand how they interact with technology, gain insight into their environments and needs, and identify opportunities to strengthen security and improve efficiency. 

WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?

The most satisfying projects are those where we help clients uncover and address vulnerabilities that represent significant business risks, like one where we identified a critical encryption flaw in a payment card processing system.  The flaw had been inadvertently replicated during a software rewrite, meaning the client thought they had secure, updated code when they still had the same vulnerability. 

WHATS ON TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST?

With a young family, I’m looking forward to more outdoor adventures together, whether that’s introducing them to the slopes or spending more time on and around the water.  For me, it’s about having experiences that combine fun, challenge, and quality family time.
