As a Partner at Liberty, I advise management teams on getting the best incentive terms possible, often as their business moves from one institutional investor to another.  In these circumstances, we have only one objective and that is to look after management’s interests.

WHY DO YOU DO IT?

Having spent my career to date in M&A advisory for the first 15 years, then the next 4 years as CEO of a privately owned business and the last 12 years investing three private equity funds as a Partner in a mid-market PE firm, the chance to apply all this experience in advising management teams was a deliberate decision.  The chance to build relationships with talented senior teams and really look out for them in what can be fast paced, highly complex transactions, is what gets me out of bed in the morning.

WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?

Too many over the years to mention. Despite the management advisory role being niche, no one situation is the same, and so our problem-solving skills with a heavy dose of pragmatism are tested daily.

WHATS ON TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST?

My list changes so frequently, I can’t begin to pin it down, but essentially always on the search for new experiences, places to travel and the joy of live sport.

If I can couple that with anything that lures my grown-up boys to come back to the nest a few times a year, so we can spend time with them, then I am happy.
