What do you do?
I am the principle for sales, strategic solutions, and system architecture functions within MacroFin, a NetSuite-certified ERP consultancy.
Along with our talented team, I work closely with clients at every stage of their finance and digital transformation journey. From pre-system requirements analysis and consultancy to system architecture, integrations, team preparation and implementation planning, I ensure we design and deliver solutions which drive behaviours and growth aligned to our clients’ strategic objectives.
Why do you do it?
Three reasons, which are closely linked.
I love finance and accounting, and I have always loved technology, systems, and coding. When you combine those elements, you inevitably have someone who loves analysing and solving problems, and continually digging deeper to find quicker, better ways of doing things.
Drawing on my background as a chartered accountant, client-side FC, and entrepreneur – I honestly just love getting stuck into projects which focus on creating long-term, sustainable solutions for people-centric businesses.
What kind of projects have you been involved in?
I have been involved in hundreds of projects – in practice, on client-side, and eventually as a specialist implementation partner. So, I’ve played all the roles, meaning I have quite a unique, and real, understanding and appreciation of what’s involved from the business, finance and tech sides to make a project work.
Honestly, true digital transformation is a big undertaking, but in my experience, it can often become unnecessarily complicated. Taking a finance-led approach ensures that the core of the business – the structure, the revenue, and the cashflow are kept paramount at every stage, and who doesn’t want that?
What’s on top of your bucket list?
Simultaneously launching a successful business and starting a family in 2017/18, both changed my perspective of what my bucket list was and removed any time I had to chase other ambitions.
They are both undoubtedly my two proudest achievements, and I am luckier than many people to be able to say that.
To answer the question – I’d love to shoot an under-par round of golf. I have been trending down recently as I get a little more time with kids getting older. Also, I’ve managed to get my seven-year-old started as well, which is just brilliant!
