WHAT DO YOU DO?

I am a governance, risk and compliance consultant, specialising in ISO standards. I provide support for ISO 9001, 14001, 20000-1, 27001 and 45001. I also support clients in the field of data protection and GDPR.  

In a nutshell, I assist clients with the implementation and ongoing maintenance of their ISO certification. My support spans from conducting initial gap analyses to performing annual internal audits and risk assessments, ensuring they achieve certification and remain compliant over time. 

WHY DO YOU DO IT?

By chance I applied for the position of Quality & ACE Manager UK & Ireland for Otis Elevators and that is where my career in compliance began. I switched the world of elevators for IT but essentially continued as a Quality Manager and one by one picked up experience with other ISO standards. After 15 years of providing compliance support internally, I decided another change may be right for myself and I moved across the meeting table to provide external compliance support at URM and became a consultant. I like the fact the ISO standards are structured the same and can provide a framework for any business to apply and meet the requirements. 

WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?

Too many to mention. I particularly enjoy the implementation projects and working with clients from the start to create a solid foundation of compliance and a management system that achieves ISO certification. I also enjoy helping clients following a difficult external audit where major findings have been raised but the client is unsure of the best approach to resolve the findings. I recall a particular client was facing losing their ISO certification and I was able to assist by separating the findings into bite size chunks that made sense to the client and resulted in a successful audit and retention of their ISO certificate.  

WHAT’S ON TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST?

I’m keen follower of all sports but I especially love rugby and cricket, so top of my list would be to tour with England during an away Ashes series or travel with the British and Irish Lions on any of those tours.
