Being an elite-level football referee can seem like a thankless task. But the lessons it teaches you about performing under intense scrutiny and building trust within teams are one in a million.

That’s why, for the next instalment of The Business Club, Cooper Parry, Bermans and HSBC are teaming up with Meet For Good to bring Anthony Taylor back to his Northwest roots.

Anthony is a professional referee, known for officiating high-profile matches domestically and internationally, from the Premier League to the World Cup.

Never far from the limelight – or the headlines – we can’t wait to welcome him to X+Why 100 Embankment on Thursday 4th December, 9:30 – 11:30am, for what promises to be a fascinating morning.

FIFA Referee

Anthony Taylor has been listed as a FIFA Referee since 2013, officiating hundreds of Premier League games and high-profile finals in that time. A former Prison Officer in a Category A Jail, Anthony is used to leading and managing in high pressure environments. The world of elite professional football is certainly high stakes, with the enormous financial consequences of success or failure, the extreme, tribal nature of both domestic and international football, and the reputations and egos of top flight players coming to the fore every single week. Add in the global TV audience and the intense scrutiny of VAR (Video Assistant Referee), and ‘Tayls’ is leading and managing under a microscope, with every decision analysed by an often polarised audience.
