On a seriously dreich evening, nothing dampened the spirits of the Tartan Rebelution.
Under the stunning vaulted-ceiling setting of Greyfriars Hall on the Cowgate, the invites went out and the crowds thronged in.
As a statement of our arrival in Scotland, this event had everything. And then some.
As if it were needed, the mood was further buoyed by the presence of our newest colleagues, Hutcheon Mearns. Together, we celebrated their dealmakers’ awards from the night before.
Our bekilted Tax Partner & Head of Scotland, Neil Norman, welcomed the couple of hundred guests from the imposing overhead balcony. “CP is a rocket ship. We don’t do dull. We don’t do beige. We’re ambitious, hungry and we’re here to stay. Welcome to this year’s Tartan Rebelution. Nae beige.”
And so the tone was set.
The Kilted Ceilidh Band struck up, the winter warmers went down a treat and the conversation flowed. Oysters were shucked and canapés consumed.
Lady Caricature perfectly captured the guests, eccentric mime artists grabbed attention, Tartan dancers added rhythm and sass, and the genius magician was up to his old tricks.
All the while, DJ Nathan maintained the energy, atmosphere and foot-tapping vibe.
Meanwhile, some guests drifted into the calmer speakeasy mood of the CP Rebel Room. Hosted by the Port of Leith Distillery- the world’s tallest (9 storeys) and the UK’s first vertical distillery – drams were drunk, new business acquaintances struck up, memories made.
Think tartan with Vivienne Westwood attitude.
Think Irn-Bru enhanced energy.
Think of an event no other professional services firm could pull off.
This rocket ship has just entered a new dimension.
As positive feedback came pouring in, many of the same words kept cropping up: ‘Colourful’, ‘Unscripted’, ‘Engaging’, Energetic’, Different’, ‘Fun’.
All the signs of a colourful, welcoming and memorable night.
