WHAT DO YOU DO?
If you asked me what I actually do, I’d say I help business owners and investors make big strategic moves—raising capital, buying or selling companies, or planning their next step. After more than 15 years in corporate finance, investment banking, and in-house corporate development, I’ve seen deals from every angle. I lead our Deals and Strategy practice (formerly Hutcheon Mearns) in Scotland, working with ambitious businesses that are ready to grow, change, or realise value. When something transformational is on the table, I’m the person clients trust to get it done—calmly, commercially, and with real commitment to the outcome.
WHY DO YOU DO IT?
Because I love the pace, the challenge, and the impact. Every deal tells a story of ambition—of people backing themselves to build something better—and I get to help make that happen. There’s an incredible satisfaction in seeing a founder secure a life-changing exit, a management team close their first investment, or a company land the right strategic partner to scale globally. It’s not just about numbers or process; it’s about unlocking potential and guiding decisions that shape the future of a business. That’s what keeps me doing it, deal after deal
WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?
I’ve advised on everything from early-stage fundraises to international trade sales and complex private equity transactions—across industries as diverse as software, energy, industrials, logistics and many more. I’ve helped high-growth SMEs raise multi-million-pound investment rounds, sold niche engineering and software businesses to global groups, and supported private equity investors on nine-figure international deals. Each deal has its own complexity and character—but the goal is always the same: create value, deliver clarity, and make sure the client gets the best possible outcome. For me, that’s the real reward—seeing strategy turn into success, and knowing we helped make it happen.
Every project is different, and that’s what makes it exciting. Clients end up with the funding they need, the right partners, or a great sale—and I get to be right there in the thick of it, making sure everything goes as planned. That’s the kind of work that keeps me inspired and always looking for the next big opportunity.
WHATS ON THE TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST?
I’m an unfortunate petrol head…so drive an F1 car! I’m sure what my mind says I can do and what I can actually do would be very different however…
