WHAT DO YOU DO?

My role within the capital allowances team sees me supporting clients to identify and maximise tax savings on the capital expenditure they have incurred in their businesses.

As an example, if a client was looking to purchase an office, I could assist with identifying the tax savings available on not only the acquisition of the property, but also on any future refurbishment or fit out works they complete.

WHY DO YOU DO IT?

Specialising in capital allowances is not something I thought I would be doing when I sat my tax exams! However each project is so different and varied, and the interaction between tax and surveying really keeps me on my toes. I love having a fresh challenge with each project.

WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?

I have helped clients save millions of pounds on a whole range of projects, ranging from office acquisitions in Edinburgh, Dublin and London, through to theme parks, warehouses and hotels in the Midlands.

WHAT’S ON THE TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST?

I love being outdoors and most of my weekends are spent in the Scottish Highlands hiking, running or kayaking, all while attempting to not be bitten by the midges!

Top of my bucket list is to hike to base camp at Mt Everest – simply to be able to just sit and enjoy the view.
