What do you do?

Think of it like this:

I’m the friend who proofreads your big, important email before you hit send – the one where everything needs to be airtight.

But in business terms, I’m a mix of a detective, a translator, and a sat nav.

  • Detective – I dig into the numbers and test things stack up the way they should. No guesswork, just evidence based.
  • Translator – I turn complex financial jargon into plain English, so it can be understood.
  • Sat nav – I help businesses figure out where they are, sense-check the route they’re on, and flag any wrong turns before they become expensive problems.

So when people ask what I do, I say:

“My job is to help your numbers tell the truth – whether you’re running a UK business, reporting into a global group, or somewhere in between – and that everyone understands the story they’re telling.”

Why do you do it?

Oddly enough, I always knew I wanted to be a Chartered Accountant.

Growing up, it had that reputation – respected, specialist and not bad on the money front either. It helped that I genuinely loved Maths, Business, Economics. But more than anything, once I set my sights on something, that was it. If you’d told my younger self I’d end up in Audit, and make Partner by 31, I probably would’ve laughed – a lot.

What I love about Cooper Parry is how much we challenge the mould. CP are not here for the old-school stereotype of boring accountants – and neither am I. When I’m not working with clients, I’m usually doing something hands on – cutting hair (IG: @TheAccountantCutIt), under a car (big petrolhead), or deep into a home DIY project.

Whether it’s my clippers, impact gun or excel spreadsheets – different tools, same mindset: get stuck in and make it better!

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

I’ve had a bit of a “seen it all” journey when it comes to projects.

I started out as a school leaver at the Big 4, spending nine years in Financial Services audit before bringing that experience over to Cooper Parry. More than thirteen years in now, I’ve worked with a huge mix of businesses across many different sectors – from owner-managed companies to PE-backed firms, subsidiaries of listed entities and  UK arms of foreign owned groups.

Today, a large part of my focus is supporting UK subsidiary clients and their overseas parent groups. That means acting as the bridge between local management teams and global stakeholders – helping international groups navigate UK statutory audit requirements, coordinating with component and group auditors across different jurisdictions, and making sure the UK audit runs smoothly, efficiently and without surprises. Along the way, I flag non-audit matters, bring in specialist teams where needed, and help clients address potential issues early so they can avoid unnecessary complications.

The best part? No two projects are ever the same. One day it’s navigating complex group structures, the next it’s helping a fast-growing business get control of their numbers or supporting through change.

I work closely with teams across Tax, Business Services & Outsourcing, Wealth, Innovations and Legal – so I don’t just look at things through an audit lens.

I connect the dots.

What’s on the top of your bucket list?

Watching Ronnie O’Sullivan live score a 147, or a trip to the Nürburgring with the boysgetting a few laps in myself (ideally in an E92 M3).
