What do you do?

I meet with many different companies and discuss how they have made improvements to their products and processes. I then help them claim tax relief for their efforts.

Why do you do it?

I hate spreadsheets, and yes, I did fall into it! Somehow, after two language and literature degrees, I ended up with a qualification in corporate tax. I detested large corporate life, and vowed never to go back into it– but I love client work and the range of people you can meet in the course of a career in Innovation….so here I am.

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

I’ve helped companies make claims for their developments in medicine, steel, gearboxes, and chocolate vodka. It’s really fascinating to spend time with people who have an idea or a dream, and then they make it happen, and then it’s so rewarding to see them receive tax relief for their efforts.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

Travel, travel and more travel. I have been fortunate to travel a great deal as a child and young adult, not so much recently as a working parent… but it’s on the horizon again and I can’t wait to get out there and see and experience new places. Beaches, cities and everything in between.

Theatre and sport are my two great loves, so I will always have the next Test match on my list, or the latest play.
