What do you do?

I head up the People function within Cooper Parry. We partner with the business to support acquisitions from the due diligence stage right through to integration, we build scalable people infrastructure, develop exceptional leaders, attract and retain outstanding talent and most importantly create a culture where our people thrive. We help make our growth possible!

WhY do you do IT?

I’ve been in HR since University and this was an intentional career for me (either that or a vet)! Pretty quickly I went to night school to complete my CIPD and since then I’ve tried various industries and moves from generalist HR to trying out different specialisms within HR, which for me has bought greater depth to my career. In that time I’ve also qualified as a coach, recently completing my Post Graduate diploma in Business and Personal coaching. I do it because I love it, for me its about enabling people and businesses to thrive, reaching their full potential. Playing a part in someone’s career journey, helping them grow and contributing to the long term sustainable success of a business, is a real privilege.

WhAT KINDS OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?

It’s an incredibly exciting time at CP, with significant investment across the People function and a range of strategic projects supporting our growth.

In Compensation & Benefits, we’re redesigning our job architecture with Willis Towers Watson to ensure it’s fit for a scaling organisation. Within Performance, Growth & Excellence, we’ve been building blended learning programmes, from trainees through to Directors, combining workshops, digital learning, and AI-powered coaching, with leadership development a key focus this year.

We’re also enhancing IC & Employee Experience through improved communications, greater use of people insights and feedback, and a strong focus on culture as we continue to grow. In Talent Acquisition, we’re investing in technology, candidate experience, and employer brand, while our new Employee Relations team and People Business Partners are creating the scalable frameworks and strategic people plans needed to support future growth.

There’s a huge amount happening across the function, making it a fantastic time to be part of the journey.

WhAT’S ON TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST? 

My kids are getting older, so it’s about continuing to create memories with them while they still want to hang out with their parents! Also on my own bucket list, I would like to learn how to fly, it’s something my dad and brother can do, so it’s in the genes!
