What do you do?

I help businesses improve their finance function, either by providing services to compliment and support a finance team, or alternatively, enable a client to outsource all of their finance function to CP rather than employ in house. Our aim is always to deliver better data, in a more efficient way than they had before.

Why do you do it?

After graduating in Mechanical Engineering and not enjoying it, my love for problem solving, numbers and building relationships naturally took me into accounting. What gets me out of bed every morning is that this has never really felt like work – I really do enjoy helping not just clients, but CP’ers as well. I think it all stems down to just loving a good chat !

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

I’ve been involved in everything big and small. One of my favourite projects was sitting with a client on Christmas eve, planning a dream he had to create a privatised treatment facility for ADHD and autism. We provided an outsourcing support which scaled up and down as the business grew, from bookkeeping, through to FD level support and management information. Within 4 years the business was turning over £100m. I supported the client through an exit and made a life long friend at the same time.

Another ongoing project on the other end of the spectrum is the service I lead to provide outsourced back office support to a franchise of over 200 franchisees globally, with the majority based over in Australia and New Zealand. My team here at CP provide a controlled and consistent back office service across all 200 franchisees, and then provide key benchmark data on performance each month back to the franchisor. Ultimately the finance controls and results we are providing to the franchisor is helping them to spot problems and identify growth opportunities. The franchise has nearly doubled in size since we started working for them.

What’s top of your bucket list?

To be better at snowboarding! All the gear no idea 🙂 I’ve been fortunate enough to tick loads of bucket list items off that seemed out of reach at times, but for some reason, a straight forward sport like snowboarding I cant crack and just end up in Apres Ski by 2pm!
