What do you do?

I lead our transactional, qualified & senior Finance Recruitment service line, based within our Edinburgh Office. In essence, I connect outstanding Accountants & Finance experts to businesses of all shapes and sizes across a wide range of industry sectors. I put a particular emphasis on building relationships with candidates & clients, where I will gain a deep understanding of their needs, pain points and seek opportunities to add real value. My role also consists of promoting our wider service lines, introducing our clients to wider opportunities to improve, automate & support their business. 

Why do you do it?

definitely fell into recruitment, and I’m delighted I did. Recruitment provides you with a unique platform to perform a multitude of roles; Business development, networking, talent acquisition, client solutions, people solutions and much more. It is a line of work that doesn’t compare to any other industry where I can have a direct influence on peoples lives and businesses growth journey & ambitions. Providing instrumental expertise & advice to find the right solution and getting to a positive outcome for my candidates & clients brings incredible job satisfaction in itself, prior to the rewards that can then come with it. I absolutely love a challenge, whether that be finding someone their dream job or finding a client a niche candidate, my role allows me to thrive in a recruitment-focussed service line with the ability to offer so much more

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

I’ve worked on several very interesting & unique projects ranging from finding a CFO for a start-up, a business-critical Group Financial Controller following a PE Acquisition and hiring 10+ Payrollers for a Global Payroll Provider. Each project or role is unique to that business and offers opportunity to add real value. I quite often encourage retained projects where it promotes the business opportunity instantly and allows me the opportunity to present a detailed, quality-focussed shortlist following full briefings and vetting on both the candidates and sharing full disclosure of the business & opportunity. For me, this is the most effective way to successfully recruit, particularly at high-level.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

Attending a UEFA Champions League Final & going to watch Scotland at a World Cup. I’m a huge football fan and these are probably 2 childhood dreams to be fair, that I am yet to fulfil.
