WHAT DO YOU DO?

I’m an Indirect Tax Partner. I sit in Reading and cover Thames Valley and West, and have a sound ‘generalist’ technical expertise but specialise in international / cross border indirect tax issues and have extensive experience in providing an ‘EU VAT controller’ function to international corporate groups, which covers compliance, advisory and the project management skill required to tie it all together.

WHY DO YOU DO IT?

Before I started my professional services career, I knew I wanted to work in the accounting industry and was drawn to tax. Upon investigation of the different types of tax, it became clear that the way my brain worked was a perfect match to the profile of a VAT advisor.

I love relieving the stress and load of Indirect Tax from clients and take great personal satisfaction in providing an Indirect Tax service that covers all bases and in knowing the supply chain of a client inside out.

WHAT KIND OF SPECIAL PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?

I’ve focussed my time in recent years on my EU VAT controller offering.

My favourite of these projects was for an international pharmaceutical group and included early stage involvement in supply chain mapping, identification of all EU obligations plus the opportunity to recover millions of euros of unrecovered import VAT and ongoing compliance and commercial practical and advisory support

WHATS ON TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST?

I’d like to visit every US state. I love the vibe and energy in the US (current politics aside) and the sobadits good food. I’ve crossed off Washington DC, New York, Washington, Oregon, California, Florida, Nevada, Louisiana, West Virginia and Tennessee to date so I have a way to go…
