Katherine Nyalani

  • Manager - Service Charge

What do you do?

I manage client relationships, understand their needs and business, and being able to work with them to progress their Service Charge accounts efficiently. I am only as good as my fantastic Service Charge team, I manage the internal team to be able to deliver the Service Charge accounts to the highest standard, motivating my team to be proactive and to progress both personally and professionally in this space. CP makes a space for all of us accountants to be the very best version of ourselves so it’s important as a manager to encourage the CP culture.

Why do you do it?

Fresh out of school age 16 with my AAT level 2 I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do but I knew I wanted to be a Chartered Accountant. I went for an interview at a property managing agent and about 3 months in the penny dropped of what a Service Charge is and why accounts are prepared. I have never looked back. Moving from the property managing agent side to the audit side was the best decision for me while gaining my ACCA qualification. The experience has given me a well-rounded knowledge of both Residential and Commercial Service Charge and its safe to say this is well and truly my passion. No two properties are the same so everyday I learn something new.

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

I have been involved with internal changes, challenging old working norms, creating new ones and enhancing old ones so they become current, CP’s whole ethos is moving with the times, breaking the stigma and I love being a part of that within the Service Charge team. We never stop learning and evolving so this is a project which will never be done, and that is exactly how I like it because it means we will always enhance ourselves, our clients experience and our teams experience.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

The top of my bucket list would be to take my children travelling, I love learning about other countries, the people, and culture and I want my children to have the same appreciation, I want to share experiences with them from the little things to the big things.
