What do you do?

I work in the corporate tax team. I help to make sure that companies meet any tax compliance obligations and don’t get any nasty surprises from HMRC. In the process, I keep an eye out for any opportunities to save some tax.

Why do you do it?

I fell into tax. It was honestly a fluke, I saw Cooper Parry when applying for university placements and thought it was a name I recognised so why not. Then I just thought why not tax, that sounds like fun. It turned out I loved tax and I was actually pretty good at it. As well as the work, I love CP. The people make this place and I love it. Tax is my life now and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

I like to get involved with a variety of projects and work on larger companies and groups, I like the excitement of getting to do different things each day. As I tend to work on groups, I’ve worked on a few group simplification projects where I get to help groups reduce their admin burden by getting rid of some of the unnecessary companies. I really like to work on things you can get stuck into and groups give me just that.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

Number 1 on my bucket list is Everest. I want to see the world and I would love to get to go to Everest. For as long as I can remember I’ve always been interested in Everest and wanted to go to base camp. I’d love to be able to walk where so many before have and experience the culture of Nepal.
