What do you do?

I work with a variety of clients across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to connect them with talented Accounting and Finance professionals. I manage the entry level, graduate, and transactional market and handle everything from sourcing and screening candidates to advising clients on how to attract and retain the best talent.

I work closely with both candidates and clients to make sure every placement is the right fit – not just on paper, but culturally too. Whether I’m headhunting for a hard-to-fill role, helping a graduate navigate their first job search, or negotiating terms with a new client, my focus is always on providing a supportive and professional experience that adds real value.

Why do you do it?

After graduating from university, I was feeling a little lost in what I wanted to do, but knew I wanted to work with people, and so I kind of fell into it by starting as an administrator in the recruitment team and progressing to a consultant. I am really passionate about working with people and helping them to progress within their careers and I find it really rewarding to support a candidate who lands their dream job. I’m naturally empathetic and enthusiastic, so being in a people-focused role where I can genuinely make a difference suits me perfectly. I also enjoy the challenge and pace of recruitment; no two days are ever the same, and there’s always something new to learn.

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

I’ve worked on a diverse mix of recruitment assignments, from helping SME clients recruit their first finance hires to supporting large organisations with high-volume recruitment campaigns. I’ve led projects across the graduate, entry-level, and transactional accounting markets, often working to tight deadlines and in competitive candidate markets.

A few highlights include introducing several new clients to Hutcheon Mearns, streamlining internal registration and job brief processes, and delivering talks at Aberdeen Business School to help students prepare for graduate opportunities.

Every project is about more than just filling a vacancy. I love seeing how the right hire can improve team performance, strengthen finance functions, and give candidates the chance to really grow in their careers.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

Top of my bucket list is visiting Japan. Since I was a teenager, I’ve been interested in visiting the temples and historical sites as well as seeing futuristic cities like Tokyo. I’d love to experience the culture and try all the amazing food spots!
