What do you do?

I lead the Data & Analytics team and I’m responsible for helping the business make smarter decisions using data. We to turn information from across the company into clear insights to help people understand performance, trends, spot opportunities, solve problems, and plan for the future. Put simply, we help the business replace guesswork with facts. Our vision is to build an enterprise where data is trusted, accessible, and core to every decision, enabling CP to unlock new commercial opportunities, enhance efficiency, and empower every colleague to contribute confidently to a data driven culture.

WhY do you do IT?

I didn’t set out to work in data. My first career was actually in music, but when the time came to find a real job I found myself pulled into the world of data and realised it combined a lot of the things I enjoy most. I’ve always loved solving problems, making sense of complicated situations, and helping people get the best out of themselves. Data gives me the chance to do all of that every day. For me, the real value isn’t the numbers themselves, it’s what people can achieve when they have the right information to guide them.

WhAT KINDS OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?

Working in data & analytics means I’m fortunate enough to be working on exciting projects regularly. A particular highlight at CP has been developing PACE (Portfolio Analysis and Cross-sell Engine) where we’ve been able to use advanced machine learning techniques to generate recommendations for how CP can further help clients, and present those recommendations to relationship partners in a whole portfolio view.

WhAT’S ON TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST? 

Top of my bucket list for a while now has been to trek to Everest Base Camp. There is something fascinating about travelling to somewhere so remote, and the challenge and adventure of getting there, though I don’t underestimate how hard that would be to achieve!
