  • Audit Director

What do you do?

I’m a relationship director, which means that I am the main point of contact for my clients. I work closely with my clients understanding their business, where they are now and where they are trying to get to, being on hand to listen to any challenges they have and helping to find solutions.

I’m an audit RI, which means I am the person responsible for signing the audit opinion. I work with the Cooper Parry audit team and my clients to ensure they have a thorough, robust, and efficient compliance process and ultimately an audit that can add value and meet their reporting requirements.

Why do you do it?

I fell into the world of audit, whilst studying for my A-levels, I did a weeks work experience at Cooper Parry (who were my school’s auditor)… I joined CP instead of going to university and the ‘rest is history’.

The reason I’ve been so hooked – every day is different! I get the opportunity to work with great people and great businesses.  I love building relationships with my clients, understanding their business and them as individuals. My role gives me the opportunity to work closely with my clients on any challenges they face and help with solutions whether it is commercial or accounting.

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

I work with a wide range of businesses – all who have their own unique challenges, deadlines and complexities as a part of their core compliance work. My clients cover owner managed, PE backed or internationally owned businesses and across a wide rage of sectors.

Away from compliance, I’ve been involved in other projects largely around group restructures, assisting in acquisitions of businesses and working with management teams through the process of selling their business.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

I’m a huge Derby County fan and I had always hoped of watching them play competitively in Europe… I’ve managed to watch them overseas in non-competitive games but this now seems like a very distant opportunity and something that is out of my control.

I’m also really into horse racing (watching, not riding!) and would love to travel the world to see some of the big races live – Melbourne, Paris, Dubai, the USA, Tokyo and Hong Kong are all on the list.

I have two young children and I have lots of things I’d love to do with them in the future.
