WHAT DO YOU DO?

I’m the CEO of URM Consulting Services, Cooper Parry’s Cyber and Information Security company. My role covers the big picture and the day-to-day. I set the direction for the business, making decisions about which services we offer and how we deliver them (with a lot of input and consultation with the Team). I also lead our efforts to bring in new clients and partnerships, making sure we understand their needs and provide real value. Finally, I’m accountable for ensuring that we keep our promises – that the services we market and sell are delivered effectively, on time, and to the highest standard. 

WHY DO YOU DO IT?

I’ve had a passion for business and sales since I was 16, when I worked  on a stall at Blackbushe Market, honing my sales technique selling underwear! After a stint in the insurance sector, I moved into the IT world with a reseller and solution provider, where, amongst other things, I built and grew a successful London office. That experience eventually led me into the security space, where I built a managed security service and from there I helped build URM from the ground up into what it is today. 

But what keeps me doing it now isn’t just the business growth, it’s the people. I’m lucky to work alongside an incredible team: talented, committed, and genuinely fun to be around. The team spirit and camaraderie is second to none and make the challenges worthwhile and the successes even more rewarding.

WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?

A complete variety.  From supporting a rapidly growing organisation to demonstrate its cyber capability by achieving Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus, to an international university looking to achieve GDPR compliance and drive compliance across all its international campuses. I’ve also supported a management consultancy needing to demonstrate information security best practice by achieving ISO 27001 certification, and improved resilience for a leading global lottery operator.

WHATS ON TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST?

I’ve been fortunate to tick off many of my bucket list items.  For me, if I identify something I want to do I find a way to do it! Life is about experiences and the people you experience things with – so I am always looking for that next experience!
