What do you do?

I’m a tax adviser, specialising in working with high-profile individuals, particularly people in the sports and entertainment industries, as well as founders and C-suite executives. In simple terms, I help people navigate the tax side of their businesses and personal finances, often when things are changing quickly or becoming more complicated.

Whether that’s structuring a new business venture, managing international tax issues, planning around a major transaction or dealing with the intricacies relating to individuals in the sports/entertainment world, I like being the “go-to” person clients message when they need advice. 

WhY do you do IT?

I nearly did a degree in mathematics but was given advice by my father to try accounting as a broader and more practical route! After obtaining my CPA in Canada, I did a mix of auditing/accounting/international corporate tax before finding my niche in the private client space. 

What I enjoy most about the private client world is really being able to get to know the individual, their wider financial profile and ambitions, and providing support through the opportunities they encounter. I get particular joy out of alleviating stress when clients are faced with a challenging situation. 

WhAT KINDS OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?

A lot of my work involves helping clients navigate significant moments in their lives. Whether that be an international move, a business sale, or deciding on new ventures to invest in. 

For sports and entertainment clients in particular, no two careers are the same. I have dealt with all sorts of different projects in this space, from managing the entirety of  a UK based individual’s compliance and advisory needs, to nuanced work with inbound performers, voluntary disclosures, and in particular have supported clients on thinking ahead and making sure their tax affairs are structured properly as opportunities evolve and tax landscapes change.

WhAT’S ON TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST? 

Our lives are currently on hold whilst self building our “dream” home but after that – East Asia and Western Canada/USA trip with our daughters.
