What do you do?

I am a Senior Recruitment Consultant in the Aberdeen recruitment team, helping businesses find the right people for their teams. I support a range of clients across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to source exceptional Accounting and Finance professionals. Day to day, that means speaking with candidates to understand their experience and career goals and matching them with roles that suit their skills and ambitions. I also work closely with clients to understand what they’re looking for and make sure we find the best possible fit for their organisation — both technically and culturally. I am responsible for recruiting in the mid-level market, focusing on permanent and interim recruitment for Part Qualified and Qualified Accountants 

Why do you do it?

I actually didn’t plan to go into recruitment — I studied Business Management at university and knew I wanted to work in a people-focused role where every day would be different. Once I joined Hutcheon Mearns/CP, I realised how rewarding it is to help someone secure their next opportunity and to support clients in building strong finance teams. It’s fast-paced, relationship-driven, and really satisfying when you make that perfect match. 

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

I’ve worked on a wide range of recruitment projects during my time at Hutcheon Mearns — everything from supporting growing SMEs with their first finance hire, to helping larger businesses source experienced accountants for key projects. The most rewarding part is seeing how the right hire can make a real difference to a client’s finance function and overall business performance. I’ve also been involved in short-term placements where we’ve helped companies fill urgent gaps quickly, which always keeps things interesting! 

What’s on top of your bucket list?

The top of my bucket list is going to the Maldives and exploring the amazing beaches and scenery there!
