What do you do?

We complete independent health-checks on company accounts to make sure everything is working as it should. We’re making sure that the numbers make sense and can be trusted.

Why do you do it?

I completed a degree in Human Anatomy and Cell Biology and really didn’t know where to go from there. A couple of friends from other courses had applied for jobs as trainee accountants and I thought it sounded like a good way to earn some money and get a business qualification. If I’m completely honest I really didn’t have a clue what an accountant did at that point! I thought that if I hated it I could leave after the 3 years and here I am 28 years later!!

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

I love feeling like I’ve really helped clients to achieve their goals, whether that’s putting together forecasts to obtain new funding, getting them the right advice to minimise tax exposure or preparing to sell their business.

What’s top of your bucket list?

I went travelling in Thailand in 2002 and loved it – always promised myself I’d go back but haven’t managed it yet!
