What do you do?

There are two sides to my job. Firstly, the overall strategy and growth of MacroFin, our NetSuite ERP implementation business. I have an amazing senior team around me who embody our founding principles, which allows me to focus on what I’m good at – analysing numbers and spotting opportunities for growth and improvement.

The second half, and I think the more important part, is supporting the development of our team. Having brilliant people is what drives our business – I love being part of the recruitment, development and mentoring of staff at all stages of their career.

Why do you do it?

It’s the perfect combination of everything I need. I’ve always been an accountant, and I love it! I’m also an entrepreneur, which prevents me from sitting still or accepting things – I’ve always got to ask why or look for a better way to do something. (That’s a dangerous combination!).

We launched MacroFin, as two client-side chartered accountants, fed-up with boring, complex, drawn out, and often unsuccessful finance system implementations. By taking a finance-led approach and creating new tools & processes to make the experience better – we fixed that.

Working as part of a scaling business which supports scaling businesses is like Christmas every day for me.

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

So many! I began my career as a chartered accountant in Australia at Grant Thornton,

then moved to the client side in London for 10+ years working in leadership roles across FP&A, capital planning, strategy and business partnering, before launching our own ERP consultancy, which was then acquired by CP. So, I’ve sat in a lot of the seats that our clients sit in.

As a firm, we’ve completed 350+ successful projects, including 160+ new system implementations, company restructures, global expansions and consolidations, complex billing and rev rec setups, and large integrations.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

I’ve been fortunate to be able to make my way through a lot of my bucket list, and I’m grateful for that. My wife and I love travelling and we regularly jump on a flight for a long weekend or a quick break to somewhere on the Med or in the Alps with great food and beautiful scenery. Skiing down the Vallée Blanche glacier in Chamonix Mont Blanc, and back country ski touring in Hakuba Japan are highlights.

I’m also a huge golf fan (playing and watching). I was lucky enough to travel to Rome in 2023 to see Europe winning the Ryder Cup. I’d love to do that again, either on European or US soil (maybe seeing them win it over there would be better!).
