WHAT DO YOU DO?
I’m the Training Manager at URM, part of Cooper Parry’s Cyber and Information Security team. Training is a big part of what we do, and I look after it from start to finish—whether it’s a public course or a tailored programme for a client. I work with our brilliant consultants to shape content that’s practical, relevant, and easy to engage with, keeping an eye on what’s happening in the industry to make sure we stay one step ahead.
I also work very closely with Marketing and Sales to ensure our courses are promoted and we reach the right people. From the first enquiry to post-course feedback, my goal is to make every training experience smooth, valuable, and enjoyable—whether it’s for one person or a global company with hundreds of learners.
WHY DO YOU DO IT?
If I’m perfectly honest, I guess I’m a bit of a people pleaser. I get real satisfaction and enjoyment from knowing that the clients/ delegates have had a great experience from start to finish. URM is all about people, both internally and externally, so being able to be part of the customer service aspect and knowing that the training they receive will be delivered by one of our subject matter experts is really gratifying.
WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?
I’ve been involved in a number of training projects where the client requirement has been for multiple delegates to receive onsite training over an extended period, be that weeks or months. Clients have spanned sectors such as facilities management and the nuclear industry. My role includes sourcing an offsite venue where required, negotiating rates, ensuring the facilities/accommodation/food etc. are to a high standard, courseware is delivered on time, providing confirmation/ communication with the attendees, and attending the first morning of the training to ensure everything is as expected and the trainer, and the attendees, are relaxed and happy.
WHATS ON TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST?
I’m all about animals – frogs, bats, cats, donkeys, whatever it is I can’t help myself. So my dream is to live in the middle of the countryside with woods and fields around me, with a menagerie of creatures that I can take in, look after and provide a home for as needed. The tranquillity and beauty of nature and animals is what really brings me peace and happiness. Guess I’m just a hippy at heart, much to my partner’s embarrassment!
