What do you do?

I work with some of the firms largest and most complex clients – helping them manage not only their UK Tax Compliance and Advisory needs, but also anything cross-border. My day-to-day role is to manage our clients’ tax filings and obligations, whilst also ensuring we are proactive and reacting to the changes in the global tax landscape to be an actual tax advisor, not someone who churns out computations without much thought.

Why do you do it?

My career in Tax started with a 20 second conversation with a careers tutor during my time at secondary school. He told me that they don’t do much year-round, which really appealed to me as a 15-year-old, and it sounded like the perfect career path. Whilst this isn’t true, I’m having a blast, and enjoy the work I do every single day. Its interesting to me that a 20 second conversation has taken my life in a certain direction – the butterfly effect is wonderfully brilliant.

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

I work with many of my clients on a wide variety of projects, whether its tax technology solutions to make your lives significantly easier, cross-border structuring to help minimise withholding taxes to help retain more cash where needed or managing compliance affairs – from Pillar 2 to full scale global tax compliance engagements.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

Seeing as many of the wonders of the world as I possibly can – whether that is diving at the Great Barrier Reef or walking on top of the Great Wall of China. I am fascinated by extraordinary things, both natural and man-made.
