Want us to call you? Let’s start a conversation!
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I work in VAT advisory and my main aim is to make the complex area’s of VAT understandable for businesses. I love researching new parts of VAT and the always updating VAT landscape. I can support businesses with the most technically difficult areas especially when dealing with HMRC, our aim is to ensure the VAT position is both correct for the business but also that any savings and opportunities have been highlighted.
WHY DO YOU DO IT?
After finishing a University Degree in History and Archaeology time team happened and all the jobs disappeared to armies of volunteers. I fell into a job at Customs and Excise and found that VAT was not about numbers but law and research and writing technical letters to businesses. This changed my perspective and I found that I just really enjoyed the technically quirks of the VAT legislation and problem solving within the law.
WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?
I have worked across many different projects, including the large refubishment of a primary universities London campus including making significant savings in their business non business and partial exemption calculations.
Working in industry I provided the VAT technical position on bringing a new marketplace offering to the national website, covering off all the potential risks to the business regarding VAT. This was an exciting project which was delivered on time and reviewed and agreed by the CRM at HMRC.
WHAT’S ON TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST?
I would love to backpack around Sri Lanka, I never did this as a gap year student and would love to do this now, with more world knowledge and appreciation of where you are visiting. Also I would love to find time to get back out on the water sailing again.
