WHAT DO YOU DO?
I’m a senior consultant in the realm of ISO Management System Standards, that is I advise businesses on how to refine their best practices to gain the maximum benefit in terms of productivity, efficiency and the management of risks in the business environment.
WHY DO YOU DO IT?
I genuinely enjoy articulating the often-confusing requirements of ISO Standards into the language that businesses can understand and grasp. I relish the lightbulb moments when organisational staff grasp the ‘why’ ISO defines its requirements in the way that it does, and how they then put these into business best practice. I love the range offered by my work and gain huge personal satisfaction from witnessing the organisational enlightenment during said ‘lightbulb’ moments. Spreadsheets, I can live with – but I need to upskill!
WHAT KIND OF SPECIAL PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?
I have been involved in multiple projects across almost every sector of industry, either in an educational role as a management systems tutor, or as an implementer and auditor advising on best practice. I feel my clients benefit from a pragmatic, realistic approach and embedding the knowledge that best practice can increase productivity, staff retention, morale and overall organisational efficiency.
WHATS ON TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST?
I don’t have a bucket list as such, but I do have a driving passion for expanding my knowledge and investigating new methods of training and consultancy delivery in order to cement learning and understanding within organisations. I am fascinated by history and in particular the Allied achievements in June 1944. The planning and preparations that contributed to that seismic event serve as a pivotal example of how organisations may approach business ventures – anticipate everything and have a plan for contingency.
