Should CP should be more active in assisting with finding the right type of funding for businesses that are growing or require increased borrowing ability. – is this an area that CP want to be involved in or not?”

“Relationship with team is good, and some key people involved in the relationship have been excellent. I would pick out Lewis, Robin and Louise from the team in particular as being knowledgeable of our business and providing good support. A specific example of good service was Robin jumping on a call at short notice alongside Browne Jacobson to help discuss an issue for us quickly, this was massively appreciated. Also during the year Louise provided some excellent support (last minute, which was our fault and not hers) for filing Form 42’s and EMI’s. However, I thought that a remote audit wasn’t great as I don’t like the process of audit via email as I think its more disruptive to the business than through conversation. Perhaps if remote is necessary scheduled Teams calls would be more productive for both sides ? I was also a little frustrated by the tax computation and being chased to make payments on account, when I believed that there was no tax to pay. The tax comps had missed a £2.25m deduction, which if I had not spotted myself could have meant an expensive tax liability. I am not sure if this would have been spotted later , or the full review process had been undertaken and would have just been omitted.”

“Our relationship partner is always on hand to help and responds very promptly to any enquiry, some of the other departments take a little longer to come back and it can be two or three weeks before you receive any feedback during that time you dont hear anything so dont know if they are acting on the enquiry, forgotten about it, finding out from HMRC etc. I realise we are all busy but a very brief email estimating timescales or the process being undertaken would be helpful.”

“The audit went well but as it was the first time there was a learning curve for both sides, I guess as it was a tight timetable and Covid issues then there wasn’t a lot of time for a lot of preparation but I’m sure we will be able to make it easier on both sides next time. The team lead by Abbie on site were very friendly and respectful of us still having to do our day job, the audit went very fast and most things were asked for very quickly which always helps.”

“Audit… This has gone ok again, but it is always difficult when we are working with different people year in year out. Throw a global pandemic into the mix and working from home meant we lost that speed of response and ‘getting around a table and talk it through’ – potentially repeating ourselves quite a lot! VAT… Terribly disappointed – the speed of response has been too slow, the advice sometimes feels like ‘we think’ rather than ‘we know’. Confidence has totally been lost from people around the business and then in turn the performance of Cooper Parry gets questioned far more often than it should Below score is for Audit…. it would be very low for VAT!”
