What do you do?

I help organisations to deliver great change by thinking about people, not just technology – so change lands well for everyone involved – and sticks.

In simple terms, we help leaders and their organisations to explain what’s changing and why, understand how people are impacted, and put the right engagement, learning and support in place so people can get on board with new ways of working confidently and successfully.

Why do you do it?

I’m empathetic and want to make things easier for people, so everyone can succeed and be brilliant together.

I love bringing people together, to have the right conversations to solve problems and move change forward.

I’m a big believer that anyone can learn how to do this thing called ‘change management’ – thinking about how to land change well for people. I’m keen to put simple, practical ‘canvas’ tools (think visual brainstorming to co-create plans) into the hands of as many people as possible to help them deliver change well.

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

Over the last 20 years I’ve had the privilege of being able to work with organisations of all different shapes and sizes, delivering different types of change, ranging from Rolls-Royce, Barclays and GSK, through to organisations such as Taylor Wimpey, Boots and Hays.

I’ve worked across M&A, Insourcing and Outsourcing, culture change, Organisation Design, digital transformation and building internal change capability for leaders, managers and employees.

Change is typically technology-led. We come in to make sure we’re thinking about how we help our people to make the change, from day 1 – because change is only effective when people work in new ways.

And getting impacted people to co-create change plans is key. Better to have people, with a view of operational reality, driving a movement for change vs a project manager driving a task list.

What’s on the top of your bucket list?

New experiences and adventures light me up.

So ‘bucket list’ is to go to as many new places and try as many new things as I can, and share the world with my children – because how lucky are we to be alive to be able to do that – I’ve never been to South America – or Amsterdam for that matter! I’d also like to simply go to Wentworth Woodhouse and have a massive scone – it’s a big stately home just down the road from my native Barnsley in south Yorkshire where I originally come from!

I’m a big believer in appreciating life exactly as it is, right here right now, and being grateful for that – so a walk with my dog Whistler and family, round the fields at the end of the day, is pretty great.
