WHAT DO YOU DO?

I’m a Senior Consultant at URM working with a wide variety of clients from small startups to established multi-national organisations. My role involves me assisting these organisations to achieve their information security objectives, which could range from establishing or maturing a specific process through to implementing a complete management system.  Key to all of this work is ensuring that I am adding real business value to my clients and not just ticking a box for a certificate or audit.

In addition to this, an increasing part of my role is to also support the wider team of consultants as they look to expand their skills and experience.

WHY DO YOU DO IT?

I have worked in a wide range of IT roles but undoubtably find my current role the most enjoyable and interesting.  I really enjoy collaborating with clients and getting to understand their businesses and technologies, especially because information security is so wide-ranging and therefore my engagement is rarely restricted to a single department or team.

Providing clients with visibility of both what they are doing well and where they can improve is very satisfying especially when you can see progress year on year in their information security maturity.

WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?

Part of what makes my role so enjoyable is the wide range of projects that I have been involved in.  Some of these have been long- term engagements where I have been embedded in the organisation over a number of years through to short-term projects that have required me to hit the ground running in understanding the client’s business and information security objectives.  I have worked across many types of industry and been involved in projects to achieve a variety of industry-specific, international, and national certifications and accreditations.

WHATS ON TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST?

I really love music, so enjoy going to concerts and I have a vinyl collection that is threatening to engulf my house. Therefore, top of my bucket list is visiting the areas where it all started, Memphis, New Orleans, and the Mississippi delta.
