What do you do?

I work with companies when they’re going through major transactions, like mergers, acquisitions, restructures or a sale. My job is to figure out how tax applies, flag any risks, and structure things in a way that’s efficient and compliant for my client.

WhY do you do IT?

I was good at Business and Maths at school so naturally I thought “let’s become an accountant”. That was the aim but then I fell into tax and it turns out that I am really glad I did.

I enjoy the problem solving nature of working in Transaction Tax. Not one day or tax problem is the same so the fast-moving pace of the work keeps me interested and on my toes.

WhAT KINDS OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?

I have been involved with projects with transaction values ranging from £1m up to £300m.

No project is the same as the last and I like to think of myself as a bit of a Tax Detective. I am often involved in projects where I have my magnifying glass out to spot any tax issues and finding resolutions to protect my clients from significant exposures.

WhAT’S ON TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST?

The top of my bucket list is to visit Japan!  I visited Asia for the first time a couple of years ago and the culture and lifestyles were eye opening and incredibly fascinating. I would love to visit Japan as I think it will be a great mix of interesting cultures, forward-thinking innovation and I could indulge in my obsession of Samurais!
