Let’s talk today
Want us to call you? Let’s start a conversation!
WHAT DO YOU DO?
When friends or family ask me what I do I usually say I am one of the ‘good’ tax guys! I specialise in tax advice for mergers and acquisitions, working with business owners and investors who are buying or selling companies. The main focus is on structuring deals in a tax-efficient way, managing risk, and helping clients make informed decisions so there are no surprises once the deal is done.
WHY DO YOU DO IT?
After graduating from Loughborough University with a degree in Maths, Accounting and Financial Management, I wasn’t entirely sure which direction I wanted to take. I was introduced to CP through a friend who worked there, and despite having no prior tax knowledge, the Transaction Tax role immediately intrigued me. The fast-paced nature of deals work, combined with the opportunity to make a real difference for people buying or selling a business is what drew me in. The variety of work means that I am always learning something new on each project which is something I particularly enjoy.
WHAT KINDS OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN?
At CP, I’ve worked on a diverse range of projects, from buy-side due diligence across multiple sectors – helping clients identify risks early – to advising on group restructurings and stock exchange listings. Across all workstreams the main focus is managing tax risk, supporting growth and ensuring clients can achieve their objectives without unexpected tax charges.
WHAT’S ON THE TOP OF YOUR BUCKET LIST?
I have too many items on my bucket list to narrow down to one, as it is made up of a real mixture of goals! If I had to choose a few highlights:
- From a travel perspective, seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland and exploring Japan are both high on the list, as they offer incredible different experiences.
- In terms of personal challenges, running a marathon is a goal I would love to achieve.
- Finally, having grown up playing a multitude of sports competitively, travelling to Australia to watch the Ashes would be a real once-in-a-lifetime experience I hope to do one day.
